I have a Lexus RX 300 that recently would not turn off when I removed the key.

It was running rough, then I turned it off and the car still sputtered and kept running. The running lights were not as bright but the engine was still running. I turned it on and off a few times until it stayed off.

Has the CEL (Check Engine light) not come on yet? Perhaps it's been on for a while. If so, the first thing I'd do is get the diagnostic code read by a qualified mechanic, "smog" specialist, or even Auto Zone parts store. You might have a combination of a couple problems or a dirty or failed component that could easily be replaced or cleaned. It's hard to diagnose for sure over the web.

Please write back and let us know what you found out, or share more information. Good luck.

I have not had a CEL come on, yet...and the car has been running perfectly. Thanks.
