I have GM credit card earnings I want to share with someone else. How can I find someone buying a car to split them with?

I am not planning on buying a new car anytime soon. However, from now till 10/31/08, I have $2000 in GM Card Earnings that I can split evenly with someone else who is buying a car from GM. Thus I'll get $1000 and the buyer will save $1000 on his new car. I know how to do it according to the GM card program rules. All I need to do now is to find someone who is going to buy from GM! How do I do that???

I'm not sure your plan will work. Since you need to buy the car first and then "sell" it to the end buyer, you will incur the sales tax twice. That probably wipes out most of the $2K credit. You can always try Craig's List website or some other car forum that allows listing ads to see if someone would do this with you. Good luck!

It will work just as I said. There is no tax consequence. All you do is add the car buyer as an approved user of the credit card temporarily. The car buyer then can use the $2000 discount I have on my card. He gets an instant $2000 reduction in the price he pays the dealer for his car (AFTER haggling with his dealer), in return for which he pays me $1000. That's all there is to it!
