  Edit Answer (for another -9 minute) Under normal driving conditions, the PS fluid should not boil over. I suspect there must be some blockage in the lines to the steering rack. You should first try flushing out all the old fluid and refilling with a good synthetic PS Fluid like Redline or Valvoline. The system is quite simple and if there is no blockage, most likely there is a problem with the pump itself. The pump contains a pressure-relief valve to make sure that the pressure does not get too high, especially at high engine speeds when so much fluid is being pumped. If this valve is blocked or sludged up, it will cause the PS fluid to boil over as in your case. This cannot be repaired and requires a rebuilt unit to be installed. Fortunately, the PS pump is not a very expensive item and is easily replaced. (1)(1) Report It

  Edit Answer (for another 2 minutes) I replaced the pump, but it did not solve the problem. Is flushing the lines to the steering rack a job for a semi handy do it your self type or should I have it done professionally, and is that an expensive job? (0)(0) Report It

  Edit Answer (for another -12 minute) Its fairly easy to do yourself. The fastest way is to disconnect the return line to the reservoir and connect it to an empty gallon milk container, start the car and rack the wheel while an assistant adds PS fluid to the reservoir as it empties. A slower way is to empty the reservoir with a turkey baster, fill with fresh fluid and then drive the car for a day. It will take about 4-5 cycles of this to get rid of all the old fluid, but it does not require you to remove the return line. (1)(0) Report It

  Edit Answer (for another 13 minutes) Probably have air in the system. Air can be compressed while the system is running, and when you turn the engine off the air expands pushing all the fluid out the pin hole in the top of the cap. I have the same problem, have for five years. There is no fix to it. People have completely reinstalled their entire power steering system and still had the same problem within days. The power steering fluid is flammable and can catch fire if it gets sprayed onto a hot engine, it will also ruin your alternator if it gets in there. (0)(0) Report It
