When I tried to start it, the battery was low. It turned slowly but not enough to crank. When the key was removed, the engine continued to turn. Had to disconnect batteries.

This is my original question.
I have a 2004 f350 with 6.0 power stroke. It has been sitting about 3 weeks and the weather has been sub zero at night. I tried to start it and the battery was drained. I hooked up my charger. When I tried to start it, it turned over but no start. I took the key out but the starter still was engaged. I had to disconnect both batteries. Now, when I put the battery cables on, the starter tries to start the truck. The key is in my pocket. Any help?
