When you say "air" I assume you mean the air conditioning. The air conditioning puts a heavy load on the engine when it engages. Because of the additional load, the engine idle speed has to be increased or it will stall. The way this is done is through a device called an "Idle Air Control Valve". It is basically a valve bolted to the intake manifold that regulates the engine idle speed and increases it when you turn the air conditioning on. It is not unusual for these IAC valves to get clogged with carbon deposits. When this happens the valve can't work to increase the idle and the car stalls because of the additional load of the air conditioner. You will have to get the IAC valve cleaned which is a pretty simple operation.

k the muffler will not make a difference but what is the exact code why the engine light is on let me know that please.is it a 3.5 litre i would guess but anyways the next thing to check for is vacuum leaks aswell and if not check your idle air control valve IAC valve to make sure it is operating properly may not be raiseing the idle common problem. But still let me know what the code is and we can go from there im a licensed tech i beleave i can help u out.
