If it's brand new, a few hundred miles, this might be normal as paint and oils burn off the new engine and exhaust system.

Other sources of smells could be:

1. oil leak or coolant leak in the engine that drips onto hot exhaust pipe

2. over-heated catalytic converter (unlikely on a new car) caused by a very over-rich fuel mixture (did you get horrible mileage?)

3. some part of the exhaust touching a rubber part or insulation

4. brakes are dragging, overheating the brake pads (do NOT touch the brake rotors with your finger----use a pyrometer--a needle like tool that measures temperature).

how long have you been driving it? Many new cars typically give off a smell as the new components burn off and outgas their "newness" chemicals. It shouldn't last too long, though. Maybe 100 miles.

Thanks guys. I've been driving it about 500 miles, and it seems like it started about 100 miles ago

Have you tried asking a NISSAN DEALERSHIP SERVICE person about this? I'd ask professionals first. Sounds like brakes and catalytic converter - all natural smells for new vehicles - every thing's fine I would say.
