Every insurance company has their own formulas, some of which make no sense whatsoever. In THEORY, the premiums would be based on horsepower and cost to repair, so there should be no difference between the coupe and the sedan if they both carry the same engine and are the same model.

All things equal, coupes generally have a higher "symbol" than the same 4 door which is generally based on previous industry loss experience for that particular model, identified by the VIN. The higher symbol means the physical damage coverage for your car (comprehensive and collision) generally costs a little more. But you should get a quote from your insurance company to find out.

Usually the difference in cost isn't enough to keep you from getting the car you want. It's not like the difference between the cost of a Ferrari or an Accord. But if you like both bodystyles of the same car equally, you'll generally have lower premiums on the 4 door sedan than the same coupe.
