Is employee pricing usually a pretty good deal?

GM is now offering employee pricing on 08 models. My understanding is that this is a price below factory invoice. Plus you still get the rebate they are offering. So other than holdbacks, etc, it seems like a pretty low point to start negotiations.

Employee pricing is non-negotiable. The only thing negotiable is an extended warranty. Cash back is in lieu of financing, in otherwords, you get the rebate if you are paying cash or if you have financing from someone other than GM.

On the vehicles that I've priced that GM is selling under their special employee pricing also shows a $5K incentive on top of the already discounted vehicle. So the net seems to be under invoice (employee pricing) minus another $5K incentive. Haven't hit a dealer yet so can't verify.

what canddmeyer says. Your leverage is add-ons and making sure that you are informed about current applicable incentives. Beyond that, bottom line means bottom line when it comes to such a discounted price.
