Is the extended warranty for a Ford F-150 XLT, 2009, worth the almost $2000 cost?

I recently bought a 2009 Ford F-150 XLT extended cab (supercab) pick-up and the Ford extended warranty. I have 30 days in which I may cancel it. The warranty is a 6 year extended warranty or 3 years beyond the 3 year bumper to bumper Ford Warranty. The cost was almost$2,000. For a new F-150 pick, us the extended warranty worth it? Consumer Reports recommends against it if the vehicle is reliable. Ford would appear to be a reliable manufacture? What is your input about the extended warranty?

Thank you.

I would not take the extended warranty on this truck. On a BMW, Saab, Mercedes, maybe, but this truck should, on average, be reliable enough that an extended warranty will only benefit the warranty company and the seller of the warranty.

If you change your mind, you can always buy the warranty up to the time your basic warranty expires. A lot can happen in that time - wrecks, theft, change of plans.

Don't wait until the last minute to cancel it - they may be conveniently unavailable at the last minute.
