Is there any way for the airbags to deploy with the vehicle parked and the ignition in the off position and no key?

I am looking into a Nissan Accord which was allegedly parked with the ignition off and no keys in the ignition. The vehicle was allegedly hit by another vehicle and both frontal airbags deployed. I believed that the airbags would not deploy unless the ignition was on (power) and I am asking for comfirmation on that.

The airbags are always hot to the best of my knowledge. The lone exception may be if the battery is disconnected.
