    As a general rule, I try to get my transmission fluid changed every 30k or so. Many cars don't call for that in their owners manual, and if you plan to keep it only up to 100k or so AND the manual doesn't call for changes, you'll probably be ok. But I keep my cars longer than that, so I have the fluid changed. If you do, it is CRITICAL that the correct fluid is used. You may want to 'bite the bullet' and pay the dealer to do it. If a quickie oil change place is pushing you to do it, don't use them, they can cause more problems than they solve.
