Mercury Mountaineer engine idle increases from 750 rpm to 1250 rpm. I changed the idle air control valve. What else could it be?

the idle on my 02 mountaineer increases from 750 rpm to rouhly 1250 rpm when the temp is high outside. this happens after the car has been running for approximately 30-45 minutes. i have changed the idle air control valve. the problem still continues. what else could be wrong. the temp is usually 70 degress or better.
