In my opinion you should seek an official Mazda dealer/mechanic. I'm sure the specialists will be able to work it out. Try here for Mazda dealers in the UK and here for USA dealer locator

Good luck and let us know if you found out the issue.

this is an older post but as a mazda mpv owner I would like to possibly help others out with my reply.
    1) If the vehicle shuts off on you, especially when decelerating (taking your foot of the gas suddenly) then I would strongly suspect the IAC valve.
    2) If it shutters at idle and at times when driving check your pcv hoses which have been known on mpvs to suck themselves shut ($31 for the new upgraded hose from mazda). this is an easy check. just put your hand on the hoses and feel. It is very hard to see the hoses clearly without a mirror because of placement
    3) If it starts and idles beautifully but then begins to idling rough and has big fluctuations in rpm and dies when vehicle warms, check coolant sensor.
    4) If it spits and spudders occasionally sometimes to the point of not being able to accelerate (seems worse during damp weather). Check rear coil packs. I bought after market ones that were gel filled and have lasted 60,000 miles and still going (original coil packs went out at about 50,000 miles). if you look closely you can actually see cracks on the edges of the bad coil packs.

unfortunately for me there is still another problem that i havent solved yet, because I agian have a rough idle but it is none of the problems mentioned above. mazda has been great as far as engine and transmission but all these sensors suck.
