My 05 Chevy TrailBlazer 4x4 is horrible in the winter. Would a front wheel 4x4 Chrysler Pacifica be better? Considering a trade.

I bought the trailblazer new trading in a front wheel drive all wheel drive not realizing the huge difference in handling. When the on demand shuts off you are back in rear wheel drive, yikes! Living in Ontario this is not very condusive. I find the on demand doesn't come on that much anyway and I can't spend the winter locked into 4x4 as this will wear out the truck. I have not invested in snow tires yet because I am afraid this will only provide some improvement not enough. Should I sell the gas guzzler?
I was thinking of a front wheel all wheel Pacifica.
