    If you are using synthetic oil then switch to non-synthetic. If you are running 5-30 then switch to 10-30 or 10-40. Basically burning oil isn't unusual. If you are burning a quart every 3000 miles then just add oil when needed and keep using whatever the manufacturer recommends. If you burning more than a quart every 3000 miles then consider a heavier oil or have a mechanic check your vehicle. Certain maintenance conditions can cause oil consumption.
