My 2004 Buick Rendezvous has the service engine light on. What does that mean?

I just noticed that the light is on. I just had the air filter housing replaced because my friend broke it when he was trying to replace the filter. I have no idea why the light is on. Please help.

Autozone or one of the large brand auto parts stores can pull the trouble codes for you.
Once you have the trouble codes, let us know and we can go from there.

Without the trouble codes, anything is a pure guess and not much help to you.

Well one could only speculate, that perhaps when your friends were replacing the air filter housing a hose or sensor or ??? got disconnected. But on the other hand, it could be totally unrelated to that work.

Get the codes read as suggested, as it will point you to the problem area.
