My 92 Honda Civic idles up and down real fast when I first start it. Then goes to a high idle until warm. Then engine light comes on.

after its warm the check engine light comes on, and it will idel up and down real fast when i try to go. make the hole car jerk. i just got 2600 dollers worth of work done to it, by a honda mechanic. it did not do this before, and he says he dont now why its doing this. PLEASE HELP!!!
