plewkci	My 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid car is cutting off power. The dash message tells me to please stop carefully. What is wrong? I have a 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid. I have had very little difficulty with it. It has over 115,000 miles. Recently while driving in heavy stop and go traffic the power just shut off, a warning light came on and the readout on the dash advised me to stop carefully. I pulled off the road, put car in park and turned off engine. I then turned engine back on. Drove a few seconds, applied the brakes and it shut off power again. I repeated the process, but put the defrost on, so the engine would stay on - I drove another 15 minutes to destination without a problem. I then drove my car the next day, and 2 plus weeks without this happening again. Tonight after driving in traffic, the power cut off in stop and go traffic on freeway, I repeated what I had done before - leaving something on to keep the engine running at all times and again everything was OK. But after the car sat off for 2 1/2 hour I started again drove home on freeway and had the engine cut off on freeway - at 65 mph. Can't figure - thought it might be batteries, but now wondering if engine overheating.

It's a pretty complex system, so you'd best get a scan tool to pull some trouble codes--once you have those #s, we could give you some idea of what might be going on.
