    This is a very common problem, usually due to something being spilled in or on the shifter, You will notice a very small door at the rear of the shifter, right below 1st gear, if you stick a skiny screwdriver in there while moving the shifter, it will come out of park, it is a saftey release tab for reasons such as that. Another ML problem is that the steering is so stiff that the steering wheel lock is tuffer then normal, sometimes you have to yank on the steering wheel in both directions to get it to realse, but that is only if the key wont turn, hope this helps you
