My mileage light now says "deck" instead of showing my mileage. Why is this?

instead of showing my mileage, the light says "deck" what happened?
is this a malfunction and can it be fixed?

Edit Answer (for another 4 minutes)

It means your rear deck lid is open. If the deck is properly closed, it may be that the sensor in the baggage compartment is malfunctioning. Check the switch. It is usually a black plastic plunger type somewhere around the rim of the deck lid.
