    THIS SOUNDS LIKE A PROBLEM WITH THE DETENT CABLE,CHECK THIS AT YOUR THROTTLE BODY TO MAKE SURE IT IS HOOKED UP AND ALSO DOWN AT YOUR TRANS,THE THROTTLE VALVE LINKAGE LIKES TO HAND UP ON THESE TRANNYS,JUST MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS FREE AND MOVES WITH LITTLE EFFORT 1 OTHER THING THERE IS A THROTTLE VALVE RETURN SPRING ON THE TRANNY IF IT IS MISSING OR BROKEN THE TRANS WILL DO THE SAME THING REPOST IF NEEDED

    You need to adjust the bands on the 47RE automatic transmission. The adjustment screw is on the left side of transmission case on the outside. Loosen the locknut, back off 3-5 turns, ensure that the torx screw (older models have a 5/16 square head) turns freely in case. Apply lube to threads if necessary. Then tighten the adjusting screw to 72 in lbs and then back off the adjustment screw 2 - 2 1/4 turns. Hold the adjustment screw and tighten the locknut to 30 ft. lbs.

    THAT BAND HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE 1-2 SHIFT,THE FRONT BAND IS ONLY USED FOR DRIVE 2 & MANUAL 2

    I have the same truck and have a problem as well but it seems to be 2nd to 3rd. So do I go with the 2nd response?
