You do have a cartridge type oil filter, so you have to replace the cartridge and the cartridge cover O-ring at every oil change. The oil filter drain plug O-ring must also be replaced whenever the oil filter drain plug is removed. Reuse of the O-rings may cause engine oil leakage and may result in severe engine damage. The customer warranty may be void for any damage to the engine if the O-rings are not replaced. To protect your engine’s warranty use Motorcraft SAE 5W-20 or an equivalent SAE 5W-20 oil meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C930-A. You have to remove a plastic cowling under the car to get at the 17MM drain plug located in the engine oil pan and the plastic oil filter cartridge cover. Once you drain the engine by removing the oil pan drain plug, remove the oil filter drain plug with a 6MM hex head socket and drain the oil from the cannister. Once the cannister is drained, remove the oil filter cannister itself witha 76MM filter cap wrench and replace the filter and the O-ring. Thats it!
