Only starts with a boost, then lights flicker and alternator gauge fluctuates and stalls if foot not on the pedal. 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Was running fine. Stopped for 15 minutes, then it just clicked when I tried to start it, then it did nothing. Everything dead, lights and radio, etc. Then all of sudden the lights came on and a buzzer for about 2 seconds, then all dead again.

Got it boosted and it ran roughly, lights and odometer flickering and alternator gauge fluctuating. Had to keep foot on the gas to keep it running. Then it started running smooth for about 20 seconds and the lights stopped flickering. Then it went back to flickering and idling rough.

Where do I start? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

1. test and then charge the battery up slowly and completely

2. once the car starts, have the alternator tested.

Your car won't run right with low battery or alternator voltages.

It was just a corroded battery terminal.
