Porsche Cayenne 04 Turbo or 06 S?

deciding between 2004 turbo Porsche Cayenne with 49000 miles and 2006 S with 25000.

The Turbo has the PLUSH leather, and of course it is a TURBO. The S has capability to add satellite radio which I want. It will an expensive add on but it will work seamlessly with the Nav screen. I would have to add an external unit on the 2004 I beleive as satellite was only offered in 05. I would only have volume control on Nav screen. (boy I sound picky) What do I do? 2004 or go newer with less miles. The turbo was a much more expensive car in 04 than S in 06...can't decide..

Does the 2006 Cayenne still have a factory warranty? Is it transferable to you? It's OK to be picky that's why we buy our toys. I think the cost to modify your system to accomadate the Satellite, would be cheaper in the long run, because your gretting a 2006 car with 25,000 miles just barely broken in. Also there could be updates in the cars computer [TECH] system of the 2006 that 2004 might not have. I'd really go for the 2006. Good luck, and enjoy your new ride. Let us know what your decison was.

The 06 has a transferable warrenty as does the 04 which actually has 48K...well I'll double check- don't you get 4 years or 50K? It may have hit it's 4 year. They offer an extended warrenty. Both come from non-Porshe dealers. Neither is certified pre-owned. I paid to have the 06 was taken to a Porshe dealer to check out. They said it had new tires but they were not Porsche recommended, brake pads are 4mm % front and 4mm% back. The selling dealer said they would have them (pads)replaced. It's hard buying from a distance, I haven't seen either in person yet, as I want a particular color combo (white/tan) and they're just not easy to come by.Thanks for the reply. What about giving up the supple leather on the 04,aren't the seats otherwise pretty hard? Will I miss that extra power?

Picky, picky picky, (Just kidding :-)), you are supposed to be picky! it's going to be your new baby :-).
Like Bandit stated warrenty is one issue and the upgrades available is also another issue.
The miles these great cars have isn't a big issue they both are under average (I use the upto 15,000 per year rule). They are both just getting broken in.
The Turbo is one plus factor for performance but having said that, it also requires a little more maintence.
My verdict because of personal choices is the Turbo because of performance and other items. If you keep these vehicles well maintained (doing all the service requirements on their scheduled time, and doing preventive maint. ) they will be a great investment and provide you with years of enjoyment. I used to not really Porsches until I started helping someone work on an old 911 (restoration project) then I started to really check them out and have driven a lot of the different models, now my thinking has really changed! One day....
Good luck, and yes it is hard to buy sight unseen, be careful (you took the right step in having it checked out!) ensure all paperwork is in order (shouldn't be any problems coming from a dealer) and check maintence records.. Let us know your decission, then come and get me for a test ride :-) !!!

Does anyone know what my options are for retro fitting an 04 with satellite radio? If I get the 06 I know Porsche has a kit to add it. I don't think 04 does. Then I have to live with an aftermarket radio tucked away sonewhere on my dash.Yuk. picky picky, yes. What about the SOFTER leather on the 04??anyone?? Hey, I'm not a guy.

No new answer for your question just a comment.
I just got back in after driving someone to the port and parked next to a Turbo and checked it out (owner was there too, Shoot :-) ), The more I look at it, the more I want one now!
She said she's had no problems (mechanical or otherwise) with it and has (I think) 75,000 miles that she admits are very hard driven miles (racing, speeding, showing off etc..) the only complaint she has is her insurance prices (well two things about that (1) if she didn't rack up the speeding tickets and (2) if you worry about that and can't afford it you can't afford a Porsche :-)).
I jokingly offered her a certain amount for it and she wants way too much, about 2 grand under new retail!!!
I wish I could steer you in the right direction, I like them both myself but I just like having the turbo for extra uumph... Don't know about the radio situation. You may want to check out the Porsche websites (there used to be a few forums out there).
Let me know what you decide, and then come and give me a ride :-)
