Please recommend an extended warranty for a high-mileage 2006 Acura RL. Warranty Direct won't cover it in GA.

Warranty Direct will not provide an extended warranty (in GA) for the 2006 Acura RL I just purchased because it has more than 100,000 miles. What other reputable extended warranty companies should I contact?

Try Acura or Honda themselves. They might have some sort of a short term warranty.

I was hoping for more than a short-term extended warranty. I don't want to have to pay close to $1000 for 12 mos/12,000 mi. That's a lot to pay on a yearly basis.

Unfortunately on high mileage vehicles, the warranty costs do go up because the risk of something breaking down is higher.

Plus, the older the vehicle is or the higher mileage it has, then the shorter will be the term on a warranty you can buy. I highly doubt that you can find a warranty for your car that would cover you for more than 1-2 years, or 20k miles.

You might be able to find some kind of a great deal on a third party extended warranty but I'd be weary of any unknown name warranties as they might be a scam, or might not be around when you need them. Plus some that seem inexpensive tend to have high deductibles, strict limits on repair amounts, or limits on the number of claims, or even what parts or covered.

Do your research, and buy a brand name warranty only, or don't buy a warranty but put $200/month aside in a contingency fund for any breakdowns you may encounter. If you don't experience any breakdowns, then you'll be richer by whatever you put away.

Good luck.
