So you are definitely keeping it beyond the GM warranty period?

Probably not a bad idea, but it really depends on a) the cost of this warranty and b) what it includes and EXCLUDES.

Nothing you can buy is ever going to be as good as the original factory warranty, keep that in mind.

So I'd read this 'warranty" cover to cover until you really know what you're getting (and not getting).

Another way is to divide the cost of the warranty into the number of months you'll keep the car BEYOND the factory warranty. This will tell you what your per month cost is, versus the likelihood that the car would cost that much per month to keep on the road.

get the factory warranty upgrade. don't let them talk you into an aftermarket warrant company, insist on the GMPP. you will be able to pick the years and mile that fit your driving. so, in your case a 60 month 48,000 mile plan would fir you perfectly. and since the car has a factory powertrain plan, the GMPP "wrap" will be very inexpensive, as it is upgrading the powertrain plan, as opposed to an aftermarket plan that is of an unknown quality and/or reliablity.

extended warranties are a great way to protect your budget. stick to the manufacturer's plan upgrades for the best and most affordable coverage!

No, you don't need to buy an extended warranty from GM. But, if you are going to get an extended warranty, then only get the GM factory warranty. I'd recommend the 7yr, 100,000 mile warranty, because if you decide to sell the vehicle before seven years/100,000 are up, the buyer can also use it. It also makes the vehicle easier to sell. If you trade in though, then just get a 7yr/70,000 mile warranty.
