Anything can cause a short in your wiring harnesses. The fact that it is a 1994 says alot. The car is older. It has more chance of normal wear and tear on it than say my 99 Grand Am. If you havent put any aftermarket accessories such as subs and an amp or a new stereo in. There is also alot of wiring that runs underneath the car that is very accessible to the wet weather. The coating that is around the wires that are underneath the car draw in moisture causing the wiring inside to corode and eventually break without actually showing on the outside. But the easiest thing to look for is loose connections. Look at the Battery, the alternator and the starter wiring for loose connections and any other thing that has a plug or nut and bolt fastener with an electrical wire running to it.

It may not be what is staying on. Have the Alternator tested, Most auto parts stores do this for free. They also can do a more effective test when the alternator is out of the vehicle. If that is not the problem then, have the starter checked. if the starter is bad or going bad that can cause a draw on the charging system. And if that is not the answer then there can be a short somewhere in the vehicle wireing harnesses, good luck. I hope that I helped out

If you have a drain on the battery it will be dead in the morning. To check if the altinator is good try disconnecting the battery positive cable while the car is running (if you get it started). If it stays running with no headlights or a/c on then the altinator is working. Now to check for a drain you need to diconnect the negative (hook the positive back up) battery cable engine, off key off. hook up a test light to the negative cable and touch the negative battery post. If the light comes on then you have drain in the system. Now some system like the clock will cause a slight glow in the test light. Open the door and see if the light becomes brighter? Turn on the head lights and check the brightness of the light, these are normal. If the light is bright all the time, then remove one fuse at a time in till the light go's off. this will tell you what circut is crossed up. then you can see if your radio, car phone, or something like the alarm is installed wrong or if there was a internal failure. It does happen a lot here in Arizona because of the heat during the summer.
