Starting Problem on 97 Infiniti I30.

Bandit10, I am the guy with the 97 Infinity that won't start. I have already ruled out the alternator and the battery. I know both are good. You suggest taking the starter to Auto Zone or other major auto parts store. Not even hearing a click in the solonoid of the starter is what puzzles me. Like no electricity at all is going to the starter. The lights on the Car are as bright as can be, they do not even dim when the key is turned, like no drain at all on the battery. Is there anything else I should rule out before pulling the starter since I am not hearing that typical click when the key is in the start position. I am thinking today to try cleaning the connector from the starter to the cars electrical system. Is there a fuse for the starter that could be bad?

What I meant was take it to Autozone, and see if they will run a check while the starter is still in the car. If they can't do that then you'll have to remove and bring it into them and they can run a check on their machine and also see if the solinoid is good, and the starter gear is engaing to the fly wheel. Checking and cleaning the connections to the starter is a smart move. Have you brought it into Autozone at this point? You might also want to try using their user friendly touble shooting web site. It's a great site for the DIY'er. The site is www.autozone.com they have diagrams & photos most times. The fuse could be what's called a fuseiable link it's a thin wire gauge inside the wiring somewhere to your starter. There not always visable to the untrained eye. By all means check all fuses you can access. Even if their not burnt out, clean them with rubbing alcohol using a Q-Tip just to make sure their clean, and giving a positive connection. You might want to contact mr shiftright on this site he's extremly well versed and possiably could even give you a direct link to your problem. Or check other people on this site who have direct working knowledge of imported cars. Best of luck. And please let all of us know the outcome, and what was done to correct the problem. It benefits everyone on this site. It could help someone else with your problem.
