Yes to a point, depending on where you started your oil change intervals normally. If you were changing at 3,000, I think you could definitely push to 5,000--7,500. Beyond that though, I'd use an Oil Analysis Service to judge the condition of oil that's been in there a long time. I don't think you can just assume that because the oil is synthetic, it's still good at 10,000 miles. All cars are different and driving conditions vary. That's why Oil Analysis is a good idea, even though it does cost something to have it done.

Yes, and no. If your vehicle is under warranty, then change the oil at the interval stated in the owners manual or on the warranty coverage, or risk losing warranty coverage should an oil related failure occur.

The short answer is yes it extends your oil change interval. If it didn't you would not be able to justify the additional cost. Some have gone over 15k between changes with oil analysis done to insure the oil is still working.

Synthetic oils do not break down as fast as petroleum based oils. Synthetics can run longer between changes. Since the filter is removing the dirt in the system, longer life can be achieved simply by changing the oil filter and topping off the oil. By extending the oil change intertvals, you can reduce the impact of the higher costs of the synthetics. Always use a top grade of filter with an anti drainback valve ie. Pure One, Mobile 1, or Fram Toughgard.

Yes using synthetic oil you can extend the interval between oil changes.I go 6,000 miles on synthetic and change filter at 3,000 miles.Synthetic is petroleum based,it starts out with the same base as motor oil. Bar-stock comes from crude oil.How synthetic works is uniformitiy, there are a number of additives that are added to the Barstock. The molicule size is measured and every additive that goes into making this oil is engineered to the EXACT same size,So the loads that are put on this oil are spread evenly. when you have different size molicules, only the largest ones are taking all of the load they are getting squeezed the most and the smaller ones are doing nothing,so motor oil breakes down much sooner with just a portion of the oil doing all the work.EXAMPLE:TAKE 10 DIFFERENT SIZE MARBLES-10 OF EACH SIZE,PLACE THEM ON FLAT SURFACE-SET A PIECE OF PLYWOOD ON TOP OF MARBELS-MOVE PLYWOOD AROUND AND ONLY THE BIGGEST MARBELS COME IN CONTACT WITH PLYWOOD.synthetic oil all the marbels would be exact same size and pressure on them distributed evenly. thats the best way i can explain why synthetic really works and so good.you would be a fool to not use it. for the small difference in price, you get 10 times the protection of motor oil at the minimum-sorry for going on so long just thought more people should be informed.thanks ron j
