hey thanks for the answer, also on a side note , i had changed the air filter, when i got home from my 200 hundred mile trip , and the gasket that is on the base plate was pinched and not alowing the plate to seat all the way flush. i asume that it allowed more air to flow into the carb, and i don't think that helped either ,,,, might have caused it to have run much richer than it is designed for...am now doing a mileage test.,. will let ya know what i find out...thanks for answering.....tlove4

Probably not the cause, but it's good that you are vigilant and looking around in there. That's the way to find answers.
