The 12V outlet in the center panel of my 2003 Mazda Tribute has ceased to work. Does anyone know the cause of this?

As owners know, there are two outlets on the center panel, one is the cigarette lighter the other is a 12V outlet. Well, my 12V outlet has had problems with connectivity as of a few week ago(needing a jiggle or two of the adapter insert). Now it has completely stopped output of power. Has anyone heard of this? I really miss my second outlet for my gadgets...
Thanks.

Usually one of two things:

1. the fuse that controls the circuit is blown

2. You used an accessory plug-in that wasn't exactly the right size for the 12V outlet, and you might have gotten the accessory plug stuck and pull on the outlet a bit---this causes the connecting wire behind your 12V outlet to disconnect. So you have to dig in there and re-connect the wire

Usually either one of those.
