The navigation system of a 2002 Toyota Landcruiser is suddenly reporting "disc not detected". What could be the reason?

The navigation system of a 2002 Tyotal Landcruiser is suddenly reporting "disc not detected". What could be the reason? I have checked and the disc is still in the system.

In Car Accessories > Navigation System > Factory Navigation
In Makes & Models > Toyota > Land Cruiser

If you know how, try to reboot the system by disconnecting it from your battery. Also take the disk out and clean with alcohol.

If neither re-booting or clean the disk works, your hard drive is probably toast.

I guess if you knew someone else with the same system, you could try their disk, perhaps the dealer has a test disk?

If disk is totally screwed, you just might have to get a more updated disk from toyota. You may have to take in your vehicle...

Most reasonable problem is that the disc is dirty. Clean that and see if it fixes the problem.

If problem persists, take it to your local dealer and have them run a diagnostics on the CD or DVD reader. It could be hardware of software.

I have the same isssue with my '02 LandCrusier. My dealer has been of no help (other than telling me to buy a new system for $3500!). Have you gotten anay other answers? Please respond to my e-mail @ fosports@aol.com
