Timing on 1987 318 Dodge, Anybody know how starts and runs no power and shoots flame out of carb.
i have timed it 10 times can not solve problem it is tdc rotar bug at number one piston all the way up still the same way

you have the right idea, the plug is firing while the intake valve is still opened, look for spark plug wires crossed or ignition timing way off.

You could also have a bad intake valve, which isn't shutting. The sparkplug firing in the cylinder ignites the cylinder mixture, and right back up thru the intake manifold.

sounds like either the timing chain is very sloppy or the motor has jumped time. if you have had the distributer out it may be a tooth or more out of time. if you havent had the distributer out then i would suggest a timing chain inspection
