    The same thing happened on my 2000 Silverado. It was caused by the wires shorting out in the steering column. The wires run through the shifter stalk and into the steering column and every time you move the lever it flexes those wires. There is a little rubber boot at the base of the stalk. You might be able to move it and tell which wires they are and find a short or a break in them.

    you have to perform relearn procedure on you remote, and check all the fuses with a test lite.
