Transmission question. 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 not going into park and won't start.

purchased 2001 ram 2500 drove appx 300 miles has 73000 miles
shifter one day would not engage to the park position
could be forced but when in locked position only lights illuminate on dash truck starter didn't engage
truck came with aftermarket warranty service
took to two shops, both disconnected rod linkage, stated parking sprag rod
not functioning in transmission
warranty co not covering, stating it is not a lubricated part
is this TRUE?
