Well I don't think anybody is going to help me, so I ordered a Chrysler manual and fixed it myself. For anyone that has this same issue with thier Dodge 47RE Transmission that won't shift from 1st to 2nd gear on its own, but all other functions are normal. After using the trouble shooting section in the manual I found that the adjuster for the 1/2 band was broken. I installed the new adjuster and adjusted the band to OEM specs. in the manual. Now the truck is working great! I'm told by a trans shop that these transmissions are famuos for this.

Sorry no one could help you. Sounds like you have it taken care of. I have a 2000 dodge and it wont shift up from 1st at all. Where did you find the manual and if you dont mind me asking, how much $$$. I may purchase one. Thanks

ARE YOU SURE IT IS SHIFTING TO SECOND AND NOT GOING FROM FIRST TO THIRD? ONCE IT SHIFTS, TRY PULLING DOWN TO SECOND AND SEE IF IT IS GOING TO FIRST INSTEAD. IF SO YOUR BAND IS EITHER OUT OF ADJUSTMENT OR IT IS WASTED
