Wanting to buy a 2003 Audi A6 2.7T.

Found a 2003 A6 $10,500 60,000 miles. Is this a smart choice, test drove car seems to run fine. But after reading some of the CarSpace forums posts it sounds scary.

Honest opinions here, any reason why I shouldn't buy it?

This particular model is *very* expensive to repair and maintain, so unless you have the financial reserves to cope with a possible large expense out of warranty, you'd best think twice about it. Nice cars to drive, I agree, and if you have a good Audi expert already lined up who will work with you, you may be able to deal with it okay. My point is that IF something major should go wrong, you're going to be in for a shock. It'll cost you as much as a Porsche to fix.

Before buying, take it to a mechanic to get a full mechanical inspection. $100 now can save you thousands later.

Otherwise I agree with Mr Shiftright about maintenance and upkeep of these cars. The price sounds good but you could easily spend that amount or more in repairs over the next few years if the car you're buying is a lemon or hasn't been looked after.

Audis are a joy to drive but very pricey with maintenance and repairs. Don't expect it to be as trouble free as a Toyota or Honda.
