Assuming overall diameter remains unchanged, as the wheel size increases the tire hight decreases, resulting in quicker steering response, a rougher ride, more likelyhood of wheel damage from potholes, slightly reduced fuel economy (heavier wheeels), more expensive tires, less miles from the tires (typically higher-performance tires used, wear quicker). But some really like the look. I avoid tires with less than a 50% aspect ratio (215/50X17, for example).
