What are the pros and cons of flex fuel vehicles?

I am thinking about purchasing a flex fuel vehicle, but I have heard the gas mileage is not that good when you use E-85. If I use regular gas only in a flex fuel vehicle will I get better mpg?

A flex fuel vehicle will get significantly lower fuel economy when running on E85. Ethanol does not contain as much energy per gallon as gasoline, thus more is required to develop the needed power.

Running strictly on unleaded gasoline will not harm the engine, and will yield much better fuel economy. In a flex fuel GM Yukon, you can expect about 20-21MPG highway on unleaded fuel, about 12-14MPG on ethanol.
