    These are main fuses; which each protect entire sections of the vehicle's electrical system. The sections they protect all contain many smaller fuses for individual circuits. The purpose of the main fuses is to prevent massive damage if a main supply circuit shorts out. The numbers on the fuses refer to the maximum amount of amps the fuse is designed to allow to pass through it. One of these fuses probably protects the alternator; which is the one item on the car which was traditionally not protected by a fuse; until these larger capacity fuses were introduced.
