What is a fair DOC fee in zip 30322? Purchasing Nissan Altima.
Planning on purchasing a new '09 automatic Nissan Altima 2.5 S from Atlanta, Georgia dealer. They are asking for 599.00 DOC fee. Is this a fair price for this area?

That's terrible. Anything over $50 is unsupportable. Several states have laws limiting what dealers can charge for doc fees and you should complain to your local legislators. I'd drive to Chattanooga and find an Altima there just to spite them. :-) I did "docs" when I purchased my used car and it's not rocket science nor does it take much time.Since dealers won't deal on doc fees, back them out on the front end. Ask the dealer for an out the door (OTD) price and negotiate on that one price number and ignore the other line items.See the OTD Pricing discussion on CarSpace for lots of details.
