What would be a good engine to swap into a 1994 Nissan Altima?

Somthing with a good amount of horsepower but has a lot of after market parts.

The KA24DE engine can be turbocharged pretty easily and there are lots of aftermarket parts as it was a very common engine throughout the 90s. If it was me, I would get a newer Altima with that engine and look at turbocharging it.In the end, it will be a lot cheaper

Before you go too far with this, check with your state if they have emissions inspections. If you are in CA or MD for example, you would be very limited by the state MVA for re-power options. Generally, you can re-power with the same engine of the same year or a more recent year, provided it does not produce more emissions than the OEM engine. Check with your own state MVA for details.
