What is all wheel drive and how is it different/same as 4 wheel drive?

That's a big question in a lot of ways. Check out the first five or so posts in the 4WD & AWD systems explained discussion. If you need more than that, you can read the other 1300 posts in there. :-)One simple answer:4WD = Low range and High Range gearing AWD = Only high range gearing From there you go into permanent, full-time and part-time 4WD and AWD systems.
