I'm pretty sure most all non-turbo 4 cylinders allow for regular, the CX-5 2.5l indicates regular on the EPA web site, as do the turbo 4 Fords. Test drive the 2.5l version of the CX-5, see what you think.
Both Mazda CX-5 engines (2.0L & 2.5L) only require Regular Unleaded. Take a look at the Touring or Grand Touring models (2.5L standard) and I think you'll be impressed.
