There is no benefit to using nitrogen in your tires for the average driver.

If you can get it free, you may find that your tires hold consistent pressure a bit longer. It won't help your mpg, unless you neglect checking the air in your tires for months at a time.

Air is made up of 78% nitrogen and 21% oxygen (and small amounts of other stuff) btw.

there is some advantages and obvious disadvantages to using nitrogen in your tires.
the disadvantages is number one that you have to pay for the nirtrogen and air is free the second disadvantage is that its a more time consuming process than putting air in your tires, the advantages to nitrogen over air is that nitrogen although containing a quarter oxygen to three quarters nitrogen is that nitrogen is lighter than air so you will see slightly better gas mileage compared to just having air in your tires, number two is that you will see better tire life because tires filled with air operate like a balloon in the respect that when its hot a balloon and tire expand with heat and when cold a balloon like a tire will deflate due to lower temps. nitrogen does not do this nearly as much with hot and cold air so your tire pressure is not constantly fluctuating keeping it more of a balanced pressure as long as you keep rotating tires when you should you should get longer life out of the tires, plus you get to tell people you have nitrogen in your tires and you get little green caps lol, but really there is no exceddingly great benefit to having nitrogen compared to straight air other than more of a hassle and your paying for something that you could get for free. i put nitrogen in my tires only because i have a nitrogen machine at my shop so i did mine

There are absolutely no benefits of nitrogen related to normal use. The previous post is in error regarding both the weight issue (nitrogen weighs 97% of air's weight, a negligible difference) and the tire pressure variation with temperature (both nitrogen and air expand exactly the same amount for a given change in temperature). Nitrogen is used in race cars mainly to reduce the risks associated with fires (eliminates a source of oxygen). Consumer reports checked the claim that tires leak less with nitrogen, found that after one full year the difference was about 1 psi. You should be checking your tires way more than once a year. A major disadvantage of nitrogen is that people might not put 'plain old air' in their tires when the tires are low, leading to extra tire wear and, potentially, a blow out.
