The 2009 model year map update will be available shortly at dealers and at navteq.com. The map update for 2010 vehicles will not be available until next year. You have the latest map if you have a 2010MY vehicle. It takes about 4 months to compile and validate map updates (this has to be done before vehicle launch), they are like the phone book, you have to stop in time and print and quality check. By the time you go to print, the map can be outdated because the mapping constantly changes. All car and navigation device manufacturers are faced with this challenge.

My Garmin used Navteq maps and it has had the streets near me for almost 2 years, that means the maps Ford is getting from Navteq are almost 2 years old. That doesn't seem right.

The map data versions would never vary by 2 years, maybe 2 quarters, since Navteq releases new maps every quarter. We compile at the latest possible time before vehicle launch.

All I know is my Nuvi 765T with the map update I got in Jan 09, had the streets around my condo. So at the very least its almost a year old data. Those streets have been around 2 years.
