kaceyq	What does reduced engine power mean on a 2005Pontiac Grand Prix 3.8 supercharged? On my 2005 Grand Prix GTP I got in the car this morning. When I turned the key the lights came on, then they went off. I popped the hood and touched the red battery cable and it then got power and started. At first the display said engine disabled due to electrical problem. I turned off and tried to start again and it just keep acting like it would n then finally started again. But this time the display says reduced engine power. My engine light was on for about 3 week.s When I got it checked Tuesday of this week at AutoZone they said I need an O2 sensor, O2 relay, and a thermostat.

You can't really diagnose which parts you need just from engine codes...these codes are hints, beginning markers, to various systems an circuits. The computer does not tell you what part to replace only what parts to test.

Having said that, reduced engine power means the engine is protecting itself or some other component.

If you have a bad 02 sensor, this could throw off the fuel/air mixture, and damage the catalytic converter.

So I'd have the 02 sensors TESTED by a competent shop
