What's wrong - 87Chevrolet Camaro v8. Electric fan works only with A/C on. Help!

87 Camaro elec/fan only comes on if ac is on. someone cut orig/wires, spliced to radio. i put back to orig/wires,and fan wont come on at all unless you turn ac on. what can i do to fix correctly? thanks!(v-8 car) (oh, temp/gauge doesn't work either, related problem?)

Your fan is controlled by 2 things.
The A/C switch sensor and a Coolant Fan Switch.
Some engines, the temp sensor and fan switch are integrated in the same sensor.
The temp sensor is located in one of these spots, depending on which engine you have.
Lower RH Rear Of Engine, Above Starter Solenoid
LH Side Of Engine, Below Valve Cover
RH Front Of Engine

Make sure the wires to it are connected and that they are intact.
Also, check ALL fuses to make sure that they have power going thru them.
