What should I pay for a 30,000 mile checkup?
My dealer wants me to take out a second mortgage to finance our 30,000 mile checkup! Not really, but it is awfully expensive and I feel like I am being taken advantage of. So, what SHOULD I be paying for this checkup?

You can find approximate maintenance costs (as well as lots of other helpful things) in the Maintenance Schedules, Recalls and Technical Service Bulletins section. Go to http://www.edmunds.com/maintenance/Maint... and fill in the details of your vehicle as prompted. You'll get the information you need.

You should do your 30k maintanance on your vehicle. Whether you go to your dealer or a independent is up to you. Take the recomendations from your dealer and shop the prices from independence shops. GP

I just took mine in to an independent mechanic and was charged a little over $100. The Honda dealer was going to charge around $300. I went on their website and copied the list of what was done and gave it to my mechanic. Most of it is just checking things. I am no car expert, but it seemed to me that I got a good deal.
