    Hi Rob, the part You're refering to is the oil cooler. there is an o-ring above this that blows out on vee dubs when the temperature gets real cold outside. You're local Napa or Autopart International should both stock them. I've owned over 30 vws and had to fix this on most of them.

    I'm worried that you drained the transmission. You say the oil light is on and the dipstick shows no oil? I'd have my car towed to a mechanic and check it out.
